Stay Tuned for the Sounds of Brazil Jazz Exploration

Let me 1st thank those of you who attended our July 27th, 2013 performance for your support.  Over the last year we've endeavored to bring sophisticated and soul stirring world class jazz to our South Queens community.  Due to the invaluable support of musical patrons like you, Jackson Room is poised to become the place to be every last Saturday of the month in Southeast Queens.

We are calling these riveting Saturday performances our "Month’s End Jazz Motivations." What more entertaining way to end the month and look forward to a new month than enjoying inspiring and invigorating jazz music?

At our most recent July 27, 2013, jazz performance at Jackson Room the jazz club was filled to capacity.  We even had a cameo appearance from respected legendary TV journalist and talk show host Bill McCreary!

However, I will be taking our act on the road in August to do a cross cultural jazz exploration in Rio de Janiero, Brazil.  So there will be no Month’s End Jazz Motivations performance for the month of August.

However, next month we will dig deep into my profound musical revelations from Rio de Janerio, Brazil, and share them in beautiful cross cultural collaborations personified by the Ed Jackson Quartet.  Don’t miss the September Sounds of Brazil Musical Performances at Jackson Room jazz club.  It promises to be a soul stirring group of jazz sets.  Our outstanding cadre of jazz musicians for the evening – will be announced so stay tuned.

Best Regards,

Ed Jackson

Wednesday, July 24, 2013

This is just a last reminder about the July 27th Month’s End Jazz Motivations.  Remember we are looking to help reinvigorate you and others in our community with world class jazz musical inspiration.

Jazz lovers in our community no longer have to travel to Manhattan to hear top notch jazz artists on a regular basis.  Just come on down to Jackson Room to hear an eclectic mix of indefinable musical jazz innovation and collaboration by top artists.

What better way is there to treat your loved ones and yourself than enjoying a romantic and refreshing night of motivating jazz musical vibrations? Tonight's cadre of Allstar Jazz Musicians played with me on my well received Colors album (except our bass player Essiet O Essiet who fills in for my recently departed beloved brother Dave).

Our Performers for the Ed Jackson Quartet for this Saturday July 27th  will be:
- Ed Jackson ~ Sax (World Renowned Jazz Artist, Club Owner Jackson Room)

- Helen Sung ~ Piano (Winner of the prestigious Kennedy Center's Mary Lou Williams Jazz Piano Competition and currently performing with the Mingus Big Band)
- Essiet O Essiet ~ Bass (Just Recently Performed with the Isley Brothers and George Cables in Europe)

- Lionel Cordew ~ Drums (Recently Performed with Jeff Lorber)

As always we will play in a melodious collaboration and make this a unique night to remember and artistically savor. This will be our last Month's End Jazz Motivation performance until the end of September.  So don’t miss it.  We’d love to see you at the place to be July 27th - Jackson Room!

Celebrating 1 Year of World Class Jazz in St. Albans - Queens New York

Saturday, June 29th, 2013 – The crowd looked almost spellbound by the enchanting sounds of the Ed Jackson Quartet, at the one year anniversary celebration of the Jackson Room jazz club in St. Albans, Queens.  Ed Jackson seemed almost possessed by an inner force of paradoxical output.  He was on his sax blowing forth steamy hot cool jazz beyond human description.  His music was moving the soul in an indescribable artistic appreciation.  His piano accompaniment for the night James Weidman, was also magical on the ivory keys with his fingers flying in precision rhythms further bringing the crowd to an incredulous awe of the moving musical sounds springing forth from the quartet.  All in attendance knew this was masterful musical collaboration entertaining us exclusively at this one moment in time.  This musical moment would never be quite duplicated again.

Essiet O Essiet on bass brought strong sophistication to the music that night as did Lionel Cordew on Drums.  Ed Jackson, recently back from a successful tour in England with the legendary Fatback Band, James Weidman who was just back from a jazz tour in Moscow, Essiet O Essiet also in Europe on music tours not long ago, and Lionel Cordew who played with the well respected Jeff Lorber recently didn’t disappoint the savvy jazz patrons.  They were billed as world class jazz performers and were quite up to the distinction.  In short the anniversary evening was exciting and musically satisfying to the auditory senses.

The sets were so moving they inspired patrons to order CDs at a high ratio clip plus the Jackson Room, Jazz club served delicious free anniversary cake, healthy hors d'oeuvres, and great refreshments.  It was a lovely evening.
