The Ed Jackson Quartet with Special Guest Paula Maya 

On Saturday, May 31st, 2014 in keeping with our vision to bring world class jazz to our community in Southeast Queens, renown saxophonist Ed Jackson, assembled an All Star Ed Jackson Quartet, along with special guest Brazilian musical sensation Paula Maya, to showcase their talents at the modern Jackson Room, in St. Albans, Queens, New York. 

Ed is a former featured instrumentalist with the Legendary Fatback Band. Ed Jackson is also the producer of his highly regarded jazz album Colors.  His band known as the Ed Jackson Quartet, features a world class group of jazz musicians. He's also coming up on his 2nd year as club owner and founder of the treading Jackson Room jazz club.

This was an extraordinarily electrifying night of music. The Ed Jackson Quartet, played with powerful melodious intensity with Ed digging deep into his syncopated soul that Saturday evening. Jackson also really shined oh his solo improvisations.Brazilian jazz vocalist and pianist Paula Maya, was also mesmerizing musically and won over the audience with her brilliant entertaining style and savvy Bossa Nova jazz charisma. The night was tapped off with a beautiful sinuous samba dance from Ed Jackson's wife Adriana Jackson, who hails from Brazil, as she demonstrated the dance to the packed house crowd in attendance. Ed even cut a samba step with his pretty and attractive wife.

The next performance of the Ed Jackson Quartet at Jackson Room will be the Two Year Anniversary Performance. It will be a night to remember. Our Two Year Anniversary Performance will be:

"Spring Into Jazz!" Time to Bring the Musical Heat!

Me and my staff want to thank you and all those who continue to support our efforts to bring world class jazz back to the Southeast Queens community. Our Month's End Jazz Motivations are continuing to increase in anticipation and popularity.

 

We want express our heartfelt appreciation to all those who came out despite the heavy rain and attended the "Spice Up Your Spring with Latin Jazz" performance March 29th, 2014.   This performance was the most well attended yet and it was a fiery unforgettable night of jazz!

Those in attendance I'm sure appreciated the exceptional level of jazz displayed that night by members of the Ed Jackson Quartet. Last winter was one of the coldest in a long time. Therefore in our next performance, Saturday, April 26th, 2014, we want to "Spring into Jazz" that night and continue to heat things up this Spring season! 

Moreover, our Month's End Jazz Motivations will focus on the musical theme "Spring into Jazz!"  Join us Saturday, April 26th 2014, as the Ed Jackson Quartet performs intense musical selections intended to heat up your Spring season. Don't miss it!

We want to give our heartfelt appreciations to those who came out and listened to some beautiful romantic music in our last gig "Love is in the Air this Black History Month" performance on February 22nd!"  It was an extraordinary evening of music expressing the language of love.

Those in attendance I'm sure appreciated the exceptional level of jazz displayed that night by members of the Ed Jackson Quartet. "Love is in the Air this Black History Month"

We want to thank everyone who braved the cold and snowy elements to attend our last performance - Jazz is Instrumental to Black History Month. Those in attendance I'm sure could appreciate the extraordinary level of jazz displayed that night by members of the Ed Jackson Quartet.

We appreciate your support in helping to bring world class jazz to our community on a regular basis. While we will remain mindful of the importance of Black History Month we also want to remember what makes it all so worthwhile: LOVE!

As you know February is also the month that we celebrate Valentine's Day. So in the Spirit of both celebrating our culture and romantic feelings we will be focusing on "Love is in the Air Black History Month" in our next performance.

Bring your honey or significant other to our next performance. We promise to serenade you with engaging classic love song selections that night.

Jazz is Instrumental to Black History Month!

Hi! We hope you enjoyed the holiday season with your friends, family, and loved ones. Our last gig at Jackson Room,"End Your Year on a High Note!" was a successful and uplifting heartfelt homage to the holiday season.

In this regard, we want to continue to go into this New Year with the same elevating energy and intensity focusing on our rich musical culture. January and February are very important months because we give pause to remember the contributions of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and also our ancestors in celebrating Black History Month. 

During January and February (Black History Month) we will be celebrating our contributions to the American Art form Jazz. We will also play music from African American composers who were instrumental in creating this original musical genre.

Some consider jazz the only truly original American musical art form and of course its roots began in the rhythmic soulful expressions of our ancestors in places like New Orleans and the Deep South. In the great historical migrations of Black people moving into the Northern Cities St. Albans, Queens, the town where Jackson Room is located, was a home of some of the most preeminent artists in jazz like: Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie, Lena Horne, and Thomas "Fats" Waller. 
We are therefore bringing the history of jazz back home starting this month. Our heritage inspired performances will start on Saturday, January 25th, 2014, and will feature the world class respected musicians:

Sax - Ed Jackson
